In 2021, we created USDAR Pediatrics (USDAR PEDS) to better understand pediatric drug allergy epidemiology, improve management, and identify the effectiveness of drug allergy interventions. Children age 12 and older are also invited to join USDAR BIO.
Study Goals
Investigate risk factors for different types of drug allergy in pediatric patients
We will understand which children have drug allergy history and seek specialized testing
Determine impact of allergy investigations on follow-up care and outcomes
This database will be used analyzed to improve clinical outcomes by modifying existing drug allergy testing

MGH allergists and immunologists provide state-of-the-art care to patients with all major types of allergic and immunology disorders, led by clinical director Dr. Aleena Banerji. The Drug Allergy and Desensitization Program examines patients’ drug allergies to first-line, and often life-saving, medications, ranging from antibiotics to chemotherapeutics. Patients are evaluated by trained allergy experts to ensure they can safely receive their indicated therapies with limited possibility of adverse reactions.
Part of the MGH Mongan Institute, researchers conduct studies related to allergic and rheumatologic conditions using advanced informatics, clinical epidemiology, primary data collection, and simulation science.
The institution’s faculty includes many distinguished members, including six who have been awarded Nobel Prizes since 1985. The faculty of more than 2,800 is responsible for groundbreaking medical advances and is committed to translating science-driven research quickly to new clinical treatments.
